Fulham 1-3 Everton match Report 30-Mar-2014

Roberto Martinez claimed “football miracles happen” as he predicted the race for the final Champions League place will go to the last day of the season.
Everton’s fifth consecutive Premier League win moved them within four points of Arsenal before Sunday’s showdown at Goodison Park. And the Toffees, who are seeking revenge for a crushing FA Cup defeat earlier this month, also have a game in hand.
Since losing to the Gunners on March 8, Everton have shown Champions League form even if they needed the help of three second-half substitutes to beat plucky Fulham.
“I think the top-four race will go down to the final day,” said Blues boss Martinez. “Spurs are still fighting and Manchester United won’t give up. Mathematically, you have still got seven teams fighting for the four positions, so I do think it will go down to the end.
“The intensity of every game is important. It doesn’t matter if you are fighting relegation, to win a title or to finish in the top four. You need to gain momentum and find a real focus.
“I wouldn’t say it would be a miracle [for us to make the Champions League], but football miracles happen.” Everton looked sluggish during the first half as Tim Howard made good saves from Kieran Richardson and Lewis Holtby.

And 17-year-old Moussa Dembele, making his first Fulham start, headed a chance straight at the US keeper. It proved to be a crucial miss.
Ross Barkley, being watched by England coach Roy Hodgson, went off at half-time with a calf injury to be replaced by Steven Naismith – and Everton improved.
The opening goal came from a Leighton Baines corner after 50 minutes. Naismith’s volley came off Gareth Barry and William Kvist, cannoned into keeper David Stockdale’s feet and into his own net.
The Cottagers' boss Felix Magath made a double change after 64 minutes and seven minutes later sub Ashkan Dejagah cut in from the left to fire home a super equaliser.
But the Everton subs were to have the final say. First Aiden McGeady’s ball split the home rearguard to allow his fellow sub Kevin Mirallas to score.
And then Naismith deservedly got his name on the scoresheet after 87 minutes from close range.
“The challenge against Arsenal on Sunday is phenomenal,” Martinez added. “But again it reflects on what a good season we have had.”

Arsenal Looks to Save Their Honor Against Everton in the English Premier League 2013-14

Arsenal has had a rather disappointing start to the new year 2014 in the English Premier League 2013-14. They were at the top of the points table until mid January before they slipped further down. They now stand at the fourth position ahead of their match against Everton.

Close Match Between Arsenal and Everton
Arsenal vs Everton at Goodison Park on 6th April will see Arsenal looking to save their honor in the EPL. Arsenal is at number four position with 19 wins out of 32
games and 64 points, while Everton is on number 5th position with 17 wins out of 31 games. This will be a very close encounter between the two teams as both are looking to make their last attempts for the league finals.

Arsenal Receives Criticism
Arsenal managed a draw against Manchester City last week. The team has received a lot of criticism for their lack of focus. Everton is in good form in the past few weeks, so it will not be a surprise if the team defeats Arsenal by 2-1 margin. The Arsenal tickets have started selling online as well as at the venue, but fans are more keen on purchasing Everton tickets for this match.
Thismatch will see both the teams fighting for their survival in the English Premier League, one looking to save their honor while other looking to rise up the table.

Everton Vs Swansea City Game Promises to be a Great Weekend Entertainment at EPL 2013-14

The Everton Vs Swansea City on March 22 2014 is expected to be a weekend bash for the English Premier League 2013-14 fans. With EPL in its final stage now, the contest is becoming very exciting and unpredictable.

Everton expected to rise

Everton will face Swansea City on March 22 at Goodison Park. Team Everton is currently at 6th position with 51 points winning 14 out of 28 games, while Swansea City is on 14th position with only 29 points winning 7 out of 29 games. So no points for guessing, who will have an upper hand when these two teams clash. Everton tickets are already selling well online and as the day comes near, they are expected to be sold out. But, Everton will have to see if their key players like Darron Gibson, Antolin Alcaraz and Byabn Oviedo will come out of their injuries and play.

Swansea Tickets Sale at a Snail's Pace

Swansea City has won only 4 of their last 19 EPL matches at home, so it will be a challenge for the team to rise to the occasion. They were defeated by West Brom with 1-2 margin on 15th March, so currently, the Swansea Tickets are not expected to go with the sale margin that soon.

Everton anger over reduced ticket allocation for Arsenal FA Cup quarter-final

Everton have become the latest club to be angered by Arsenal’s decision to give them reduced tickets for their FA Cup tie at the Emirates Stadium.
The Toffees receive a reduced allocation of just 5,186 tickets when they travel to London to face challenge the Gunners for a place in the semi-finals.
Blues officials have told the Liverpool Echo the decision was made by Arsenal based on safety fears sparked by pyrotechnics and persistent standing.

Everton had demanded the full 15 per cent allocation for the last eight duel on March 8 but just like Tottenham and Liverpool before them, their pleas have been ignored.
Arsenal’s Safety Advisory Group, consisting of representatives from the club, local authority, police and transport claims that the number must be reduced from 9,000.
The safety group says it is due to fears over safety issues from persistent standing and the use of smoke bombs and pyrotechnics in the upper tiers of the ground.

Everton raised objections with both the Football Association and Arsenal but the advisory group had the final decision.

Everton FC jury: Blues must be more ruthless starting with the Merseyside derby

Terry McAllister, Walton:

There isn't much that supporters can fault Everton for this season – but if there is one ongoing issue of the campaign, it's letting Liverpool off the hook whenever they drop points.
Given the circumstances, the result against West Brom wasn't a complete disaster despite the lacklustre performance from the team.
All teams have off nights,  but this is the second time the Reds have lowered their gloves recently and we haven't gone for their chin.
The derby is up next and without Ross Barkley, Gerard Deulofeu and potentially Steven Pienaar the Blues are at somewhat of a disadvantage. To take anything from Anfield much improved displays are essential from players like Leon Osman and Romelu Lukaku.
We must be more ruthless.

George Gibson, Northwich:

We never got out of third gear on Monday, wasting a great chance to get into the top four.
The way the team has played this season, though, I fully expect these performances to become less common in the next few seasons.
It is good to see us being proactive this year in the transfer market.
Lacina Traore is someone the manager is excited about, although he hasn’t played much for Monaco even with Falcao injured. Loaning players is good business though as it will be easier to sign good quality forwards permanently in the summer than it would be now.
I’d like to see us go for another striker too, Adrian Ramos from Hertha Berlin and Pierre-Michel Lasogga at Hamburg both can’t stop scoring this season.

Connor O'Neill, Liverpool city centre:

Typical Everton; just  when we have the chance to  take the initiative in the race for fourth, we go and blow it. The most disappointing aspect of Monday night’s game was the performance in the second half.  It certainly wasn’t the Everton we had been used to watching so far this season.
The most disappointing player was Leon Osman. I have never been Osman’s biggest fan but on Monday he showed just why he isn’t up to the pace of the Premier League.
Looking ahead to Saturday the Blues cannot afford to take this tie lightly. However, with the derby on Tuesday, it is worth taking a gamble and resting some of the regulars used this season. We have no reason to fear them next Tuesday. They our no better than us and as Roberto says: we go there as EVERTON.

David Taylor, St Helens

That was clearly the worst performance so far this season – but it has taken until mid-January and various injuries to get that disgruntled feeling for the first time under Martinez.
Don’t forget we still got a point and remain right in the mix for the top four – so we should put things into perspective and look at the bigger picture.
The club and team have progressed significantly this season and one bad performance doesn’t change that – a win in our next two games would certainly banish any lingering disappointment.
One player who does need a rest (or a goal or both) is Lukaku and hopefully a bit of transfer window action will give him some meaningful competition.
Lukaku is lauded as a ‘thinker’ with an eagerness to learn everything about the game but maybe he should take a step back, stop over-thinking the game and just follow his footballing instincts a little more?
